About Our Magazine
Capitol
to Capitol is the official journal of the California State
Legislative Board. Our current circulation is approximately 2300
(and rising) and is the only state-specific labor trade journal of
it’s kind in our industry. It is published monthly as a free
service to all members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers
and Trainmen in the State of California. In addition, copies are
sent to relevant members of state and federal legislative entities,
government regulatory agencies and industry management and labor
leaders nationwide. We also offer subscriptions, available to the
general public – income from which goes back into the CSLB general
fund to help defray the costs of printing and distribution of the
magazine.
Content
The
layout and appearance of our magazine is designed to reflect the
proud professionalism of our craft and our 150-year heritage. But
we constantly strive to bring our membership timely news and
pertinent information to keep ourselves educated about the safety
and legislative issues that affect our craft today and keep us
prepared for tomorrow. We utilize insightful interviews and
thought-provoking articles to lead our readers through what will
result in better-informed labor members and voters.
Features
Our
monthly features section highlights in-depth articles from
interviews of individual Legislative Representatives to exclusive
research and union-sponsored projects. Every feature article is
designed to get our membership involved in our organization’s
activities, from attending local division meetings to participating
in voting and registration drives.
Support
We rely
on our California membership to provide us local news and an
accurate perspective from the locomotive engineeer’s point of view –
which presents who we really are to the railroad industry and the
general public. We actively solicit input from each of our twenty
Legislative Representatives in the state to bring our readers this
perspective, and to catch that rare glimpse from the eyes of a proud
and historic craft.
I hope
you enjoy our magazine as much as I enjoy putting it together.
Please drop me a note sometime…what you have to say makes a
difference.
Fraternally,
