Hired out in train service on the Western Pacific Railroad in May 1972, establishing a seniority date in July 1972. I worked primarily out of Keddie, California, on the run from Keddie to Bieber (112 miles of dark mountain territory) until I went into engine service in October 1974. Upon completion of training I worked out of Keddie, Oroville, Stockton, and Portola, California. Presently I work pool freight service from Sparks to Elko, Nevada, a 313 mile district for the Union Pacific railroad. During the career I have worked almost every type of assignment including FRA test trains, Nuclear waste test train, and been the designated Engineer for the UP Board of Directors train.

I joined the BLE in December 1974 and have been a member of Division 800, Portola, since that time.

I have served the Division in several capacities, including Local Chairman for over twelve years. I was elected as Second Vice Chairman, Western Pacific General Committee of Adjustment, and also was elected as First Vice Chairman of the WP GCA. I also served multiple terms as Division 800 President.

I was the elected Delegate to the International BLE conventions held in Cleveland and Miami and the Delegate to the National BLET convention in 2006.

Since 1980 I have been the elected Legislative Representative for Division 800. I was appointed to the position of Secretary-Treasurer, CSLB in may 1985 and have been elected to remain in the position since that time.
